Homework #5 (Magic School Story)

What are your favorite movies?

• Spiderman 2 (Sam Raimi)

• Believe Me

• Hamilton

• Prince of Egypt

• The Social Network

What theme do you see running through them?

• People torn between responsibility and love.

• People willing to give up their ambitions in order to do the right thing.

How do you plan on engaging your tribe?

For the past year or so, I’ve sought to do so as a Christian story analyst. So I’ll write different reflections on different books or films I’ve read/seen, what messages they’re presenting, and how to think about those as Christians. I do that by writing for some external sites like Lorehaven and Christ & Pop Culture, and send some thoughts directly to my email list as well. This lesson inspired me to work on putting together a Dune 2 email to go out to my subscribers sometime this week!

Who does this kind of shepherding well?

I really admire how S.D. Smith does this with his middle-grade audience.
