Homework #8 - Email List

Where I’m at:

Just starting out. I’ve had an email list for about a year now, but I haven’t put much effort into growing it for a few reasons. First, I wanted a bit of time to get my feet under me and figure out what I could do consistently and sustainably. Second, I haven’t had a “gold standard” reader magnet (i.e., short story). I’m trying; I’m just not happy with any of my short stories, tbh. (I do like some of them, but I don’t think they give a good picture of the kind of novels I write, so I’m hesitant to use them as a reader magnet.) I’m hoping to rectify this issue soonish.

My current lead magnet is a fantasy book recommendation quiz, which you can find here: https://www.njrayne.com/fantasy-book-recommendation-quiz/ (It is not well integrated with my website right now. Currently you have to sign up for the email list and then I email you the quiz, which is not ideal but I don’t have a better way just yet.)

My best performing email was this one: Christmas Around the World Scavenger Hunt!
