HW #1 - Amber Kirkpatrick

Not requested but I put a lot of thought into the “Why I write” question so darn it, I’m including it 😆

I write for readers to escape into worlds where goodness, courage, and nobility of heart prevails. A world where familial love, friendship, and romantic love is shown with an aching beauty.

My books definitely fall into the escape category. Because I tend to write character-driven stories, they are entirely about the journey of the main character(s). Everything is about their arc, their journey to reach their goal or destiny. This may include some adrenaline-pumping moments, but the overall pacing reflects a bigger picture.

The value statement (which really feels like a tagline?) was tricky for me for two reasons 1) it’s for a sequel, so certain things are already assumed and 2) this book is equal parts urban fantasy and romance, and readers of the first book cared very much about BOTH elements, so I’m trying to hint at both. Because of this, it’s probably not as short as it should be. Plus I’m really not sure if I have this concept down yet. I’m looking forward to seeing what others say and their own examples!

Fen and Sara return along with their ragtag band of superhuman misfits to fight against those who wish them all dead—except this time, they are war with their own. Escape back into the world of the Gifted in this rollercoaster conclusion to The Changed duology.

Unfortunately, there is very little I can give up for this course, it’s more about adhering to extreme self-discipline to get all things done (like removing social media except when it pertains to my upcoming release). But I probably won’t be doing any writing during this time, and I’ll be working to make some tasks easier (like simpler dinner plans, etc)
