HW #11 - John Hundley

How do you plan to use urgency to motivate people to buy your book today instead of tomorrow?

For the first XX readers to send in receipt:

Free download of the Goblin Diaries, journal entries from one of the book’s characters.

Exclusive invitation to Zoom meeting for Q&A with the author.

How do you plan to use scarcity to make your book more valuable?

The exclusive content from above.

How do you plan to make your book more ubiquitous so that it is more available?

I’m considering putting my prequel novella for my Spaceship Huey Adventures on perma free. It has a killer ending, and three complete books in the series already published.

How do you plan to use social proof to make your book more popular?

I’m working on this slowly through my newsletter, building a small but loyal fanbase.

How do you plan to use anchoring to make your book look like a bargain?

Not sure how I can use this for my epic fantasy launch. I need to have a similar price to the other indie offerings in the genre. It’s not as long as some of the epics out there. Its price depends on the entertainment value, which I can only put forth in a good blurb.

How do you plan to show authority?

I’ve been employing the principles of credibility and trust for some time. I’ve written 8 novels in the same ‘universe’, although this will be the third sub-genre I’ve written in. I’m constantly trying to improve my writing.

Although I’m making a foray into romance with this next series, I’ve set the stage by incorporating romance elements into my previous series, including a happy ending.

As far as the power principle goes, I’m not sure how that can apply at this point in my career.

How you plan to throw a banquet for your readers?

I haven’t built my website, yet, but I’ll try to make it as welcoming and useful as possible based on what I’ve learned in this course.

Currently, my email list is where I’m building reciprocity. I try to give as much as possible:

·        Onboarding begins with a free book (offer of 2 free books).

·        I do a giveaway of some sort each month.

o   Another author’s book.

o   Spaceship Huey Adventures swag.

o   Signed copies.

o   Sometimes an Amazon gift card.

·        I try to make the emails entertaining.

o   Occasional personal anecdote, poking fun at myself.

o   Exclusive content, like the Goblin Diaries.

o   Recommendations of other books I like in my genres.
