HW #11-Rachel Greco (Marketing Psychology)
Here’s the book I wrote for the HW: 😄
How do you plan to use urgency to motivate people to buy your book today instead of tomorrow?
• BookBub ads
• Sales/promos
• Launch bonus: offer character artwork, map, deleted scenes, exclusive short story, character interviews to people who buy it the first week after it’s published
• Tea party where people can dress up and we play bookish games—for people who buy the book
-For Project Thoughts: Could have a contest, and people could come up with their own futuristic weapons or clothing and I announce the winner at the event
How do you plan to use scarcity to make your book more valuable?
• Look into doing a limited edition book, either hardback or a paperback with extra chapters/discussion guides. Or this could also include a hand-written note like below.
• Maybe include a special hand-written note about the book's beginnings and background in a limited number of books. Or write a special note from one of the characters. I'll have to talk to my target reader about which they would prefer!
How do you plan to make your book more ubiquitous so that it is more available?
Look more/again into audiobooks and offer ebooks
How do you plan to use social proof to make your book more popular?
-I need to start with thrilling the individual (want to get to know my target reader even more), but make sure my characters are relatable, the world is well thought-out, and the action is exciting, but all with that specific person in mind.
-Work better at getting reviews earlier; I hope to listen to the extra credit about that.
-I have a few awards that I need to put on my website. And I need to continue to submit my books to more contests.
-I need to keep going to writer’s conferences so I can meet people who might be willing to do an endorsement for me. This is the trickiest of the lot!
-For my cyberpunk novel, I could potentially use a superlative, something like “the freshest take on vampires” or something similar because it is pretty unique.
How do you plan to use anchoring to make your book look like a bargain?
Focus on the value/benefits or entertainment it can give you:
• This YA cyberpunk novel will bring you the thrills of an amusement park without the long waits in line.
• Travel to a futuristic America for only $17.00 without leaving the comfort of your house!
• Not only will this YA cyberpunk novel thrill you like an amusement park with its twists and turns, but the characters and ending will refresh your soul.
• Thrill your mind and heart like an amusement park while also thrilling and enlarging your soul.
• Get all the thrills of an amusement park while refreshing your soul at the same time.
• Find a place in this book where you matter and are loved. It’s cheaper than therapy J.
How do you plan to show authority?
• Credibility: I need to get some of my reader magnets professionally edited so they more accurately display my writing skills. And have professionally designed covers.
• Confidence: be more confident about my books (not afraid to talk about them)
• Reward Power: I need to see what my readers want and them give it to them (short stories, a free book, maps, etc.)
• Trust: I need to clarify more who my target reader is and thrill them. It’s a little tricky because I write in various sci-fi and fantasy subgenres, so I need to focus on what unites them all and how that can benefit my readers.
How you plan to throw a banquet for your readers?
