HW #2: Inspired by Brevity
I love how RJ summarized the lengthy homework and will flatter her with imitation.
Strengths/authority: good at words, observant, quick learner, wry sense of humor, digging deep for unseen truth, seeing differently, multicultural perspective, have a scientific background from studying physics in college, research skills from being an academic librarian for many years, know a smattering of languages some better than others, familiarity with story elements from being an avid reader, being in touch with my humanity and allowing pain and brokenness to inform my story.
Why readers pass me over: no books available yet, they’re not sure where I’m going but don’t think I’m going there fast enough, unusual words and allusions might be too much work to understand, they don’t know me and can’t fathom what to expect, a more familiar author or story might seem a safer bet.
Target reader: A 20-50 year-old woman who feels unsettled and wants an adventure with friends. She will find herself in the struggles and may unearth a deeper story which speaks to her yearning psyche.
My Tribe: Seekers who are not content with simple thrills and salacious pleasures. They’re looking for meaning, though they may not know it. And they are willing to work harder at a story to find it. In fact, the search is what make the discovery so much more real and rewarding.
What friends said about me: cerebral, insightful, intense, creative.
Quirky/weird about me: I am drawn to the obscure, the unnoticed and quiet, those shrinking or hiding; I cannot stand redundancy; I see uniqueness in every person and wonder at their story; Sometimes I can hear the songs of glory and scramble like an artist to capture the ethereal moment before the sunset fades; I mix all my metaphors because each is insufficient to express the splendor; I like to make people think and see for themselves.
Shocking Broca: Astound with brevity
