HW #3: From Tech Timid to Tech Savvy- Drew Clapp

From Tech Timid to Tech Savvy

Session 3

How to learn technology like a child.

Children have a sense of curiosity and childlike wonder that allows them to rapidly learn technology. Most importantly, they push the button to find out what it does rather than waiting to know what the button does before pushing it.

Homework: Fiddle with your phone’s settings for 10 minutes.

What feature did you find that most delighted you?

I like changing my Wallpaper and alert sounds on my laptop/smartphone every month.

As you write your answer, pretend like you are a child on the playground telling another child about your new discovery.

Where to Find the Courage to Push the Button

The four places to find courage are

  1. Focus on the Power

  2. Switch Fears

  3. Love (Embrace Your Mission)

  4. Do it Scared

Homework: What is your biggest technical fear?

I like testing what technology can do.  Sometimes I have been hesitant to push the button only because I don't want what I press to wreck the progress I made up to that point.  Every month I like switching the wallpaper and sounds on my laptop and smartphone. It is fun to learn what technology can do.

Sometimes just writing down the fear makes it less scary.

Homework: Which method or methods do you plan to use to manage it?

  • Love my reader.

  • Know my mission.  It is not about me.

Tech Mastery Tips
