HW #3 Kez Sharrow
Phone Feature
A Digital Wellbeing section with a colorful graph showing what I spend my phone time on.
Homework: What is your biggest technical fear?
That I’ll do something ridiculous or say something scandalous and press a button by accident and it will be out on the internet and seen by millions of people and maybe start a holy war or the apocalypse or something.
Probably what I should fear is stopping moving forward when I reach a technical hurdle. Because that happens all the time.
Homework: Which method or methods do you plan to use to manage it?
For the social media-related fear, I need to focus more on connections with real people and serving them rather than what they think of me.
For the other, the strategy I’ll use is focusing on the power and leaning into the joy of learning something new and problem-solving rather than allowing myself to be derailed by my fear and ignorance.
What about technology are you grateful for?
My PC allows me to write and edit quickly. I can’t imagine the dreadful finality of a typewriter—not being able to delete, rewrite, cut and paste.
Whatsapp allows me to communicate with my daughter who’s an ocean away.
About half of my work is done on zoom. I love being able to serve people in lots of different places and situations.
Grateful for the technology supporting this course, enabling all the learning and connections.
Which backup solutions do you use?
Pcloud; external hard drive
Which password management system do you use?
I still haven’t made this happen but would like to try LastPass. I’m nervous about the process of changing the passwords of every site. Interested in any experience/encouragement you have with this.
