HW #5 Kez Sharrow

Favorite Movies

Lord of the Rings, Henry V, Jane Eyre

Common Themes

They’re all book adaptations? I’m really more a book person than movie person. But maybe, making hard choices for a higher value?

World’s Greatest Need, According to Me

Transformation. Everyone needs hope that they can change.

My Greatest Joy

Seeing growth—breakthrough or incremental, in myself or others.

Intersection

I can see how these intersect in my day job as leadership coach. In my writing I guess I want people to go on the journey that changes them, to experience real transformation from the inside out.

 Target Reader

Jacie is 17 year old biracial Christian in highschool in an international school in Asia. She’s a Christian but not sure she’s doing a good job at it. She wants to grow but is not sure how, and is a bit conflicted between the values she sees at church and the people she follows on social media. She is a bit unsure socially and likes to escape (hide) in a book. Some of her best friends are book characters.

She’s good at school, and it’s important to her to do well. Sometimes her emotions and Instagram habit get the best of her good intentions to study. She wants to make a difference in the world, but feels like there’s a lot that’s outside her control.

 Possible Messages to my Tribe

When I write my next newsletter, I might share a personal story about how a story I read shaped me, and invite the readers to share stories that shaped them. I’d also like to talk more about the importance of how we show up in the story of our own life. Maybe even share some of the find-your-life-theme-from-movies info from Jim. This is sounding like more than one newsletter.

Good Shepherds

I think J.F. Rogers nails this. Her theme “You are loved” is everywhere, and she offers to pray for her readers, and shares both from her books and life about this theme. She’s a genuinely generous person who always responds to emails. For pure fun, I love J.A. Andrews’ newsletters. I always open them before my other emails because they’re so entertaining.
