HW # 7 Kez Sharrow

My latest newsletter:

When did Frodo throw the ring into Mount Doom?

If I could redo, I’d title it “When was the One Ring destroyed?” or something like that, seeing Frodo didn’t actually throw the ring in, as one reader pointed out. 🙃

After listening to Jim, I’d write more “You might enjoy…” and less “I enjoyed” about the book recommendations. And maybe a line to help readers forward to friends. I am also taking on board the hint about reading the drafts aloud to catch errors. A few months ago my title was “Ten Things I Learned from Dragons” but I only listed seven. Oops.

Back Cover Copy for Dragon Ripples

Lani wanted to be polite, but there’s no easy way to explain to your rescuer that he’s actually kidnapped you and taken you thousands of leagues from your family. Add to that the fact that he’s riding a sea dragon, you’re surrounded by ocean, and he thinks your family are evil tyrants who should be stamped out like beetles and, well, sometimes a princess just has to keep her mouth shut.

When sea dragons start talking to Lani, things get really complicated—not to mention noisy. Sea dragon riders want to use Lani’s power, but the longer she remains in enemy territory, the nearer the nations come to war. Speaking up was a challenge for Lani even before the fate of the world hung in the balance!

Changes:

I’d appreciate any feedback on the back cover copy above. I’ve tried a few rewrites but don’t like them as well as this one. I feel like I need a catchy heading but am struggling. I might post some later, but all the ones I came up with tonight were truly awful.

Website Taglines

I just deleted my tagline last week after feedback that it was too big and slow to load. Aargh! Now I have to work out how to put it back. It was “Mythical Creatures, Magical Journeys” with YA Fantasy in smaller letters underneath.
