HW #7 - Thursday week 2

Write or rewrite your back cover copy using what you’ve learned

Just a quick note first. Life is intruding on my study and homework time tonight. But I did rewrite the back cover for my first book.

This is the back cover copy from my very first book TIME LIMITS. I might add that, after listening to Thomas and Jim and then checking the back cover copy of this book, I was utterly horrified and mortified. I knew some of the concepts they shared, but I didn’t know them back in 2019, when I first re-wrote the book.

ORIGINAL TIME LIMITS BACK COVER COPY ☹

 ***

One day in 1985, Churchie Tyler and Merrie McAllister meet. Later that day, a corporate executive is murdered in his office. These unrelated events set the stage for the events that follow in TIME LIMITS.  Fifty years later, influential US Senator James Lodge pressures the Historical Event Research Organization (HERO) to investigate his father’s murder using newly developed Time Travel technology.    Army Ranger Captain Marc McKnight is assigned to travel back in time, witness the event and bring back the story of what really happened. Everything goes as planned until McKnight accidentally interacts with Merrie, preventing her from meeting her future husband. To make matters worse, she is beautiful, smart, and full of life — and the one woman he cannot have.

NEW TIME LIMITS BACK COVER COPY. This is my first cut at it, but it’ll probably be close to the below new version:

 ***

What if you could use time travel to solve a fifty-year-old cold-case murder?

In 2035, Army Ranger Captain Marc McKnight uses a limited capability time engine to travel to 1985 to investigate a corporate executive’s murder in an Atlanta office tower.

What could go wrong? Not much…

Just a chance meeting with a beautiful woman.

Actually, more than one meeting.

At exactly the wrong times.

If you liked the movies “Timecop” and “Somewhere in Time,” you’ll love TIME LIMITS!

Please feel free to leave suggestions and constructive criticisms. This is a book that’s currently being updated. While we were turning it into an audiobook, I found some more typos and other errors that missed my rigorous editing program (read as: I edited it myself on little sleep and extreme confidence that I knew exactly what to do. Add a roll of the eyes here, too).

Cheers, Kim
