HW #7 - Timothy Benefield
Today’s work is done…now time for catchup.
Rewrite or edit the back cover copy of one book you know well.
I chose On The Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson, because the book is awesome but the back cover copy isn’t great.
Real version:
Adventure. Peril. Lost Jewels. And the fearsome toothy cows of Skree.
Andrew Peterson spins a riveting tale-for-all-ages, following Janner, Tink, and Leeli Igibiy, and their trusty dog, Nugget, as they escape from the vicious Fangs of Dang who seek the lost Jewels of Anniera. Quirky characters and their world of wonders—from the edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness to the deadly Glipwood Forest and beyond—set the stage for this epic adventure that includes…
Original Songs and Silly Poems
An Ex-Pirate Grandfather
Toothy Cows and Real Sea Dragons
Tours of Anklejelly Manor and Peet the Sock Man’s Tree House
Suspenseful Legend and Fascinating Lore
Genuine Recipies for Maggotloaf
Authentic Hand-Drawn Maps
My Version:
Adventure. Peril. Lost Jewels. And the fearsome toothy cows of Skree.
Janner Igiby, who lives in a tiny, forgotten town, only wants one thing in life—not to live in a tiny, forgotten town. The tales of heroes and adventurers in his favorite books call him to a life beyond shoveling hogpig droppings and doing homework. Unfortunately, he is not a hero nor an adventurer. Just a boy trying to avoid the ruthless Fangs of Dang.
But when Janner’s family accidentally angers the Fangs, he’s thrust into a world of secret maps and forgotten legends. Non-existent islands (that actually exist) and haunted mansions. Maybe he can be a hero after all…

Write or rewrite your back cover copy
This was tricky because the concept isn’t exactly original, but here’s my best attempt. Any feedback is more than welcome.
What would you do if your best friend died while defending your home? How far would you go for justice?
For all his fifteen years, Rush and his brother were inseparable. Partners in mischief who shared countless adventures. But when a party of raiders brings tragedy to Rush’s village, his world is shattered and plunged into darkness. One flame rises from the ashes of death.
Revenge.
He embarks across the kingdom on a quest for justice, hunting the man who broke him. No man nor dragon will stand in his way. Pursued by his nation’s military and hounding guilt, he realizes his quest may cost him everything. But it will be worth it if he can punish the killer.
Or…will it?
Before the Fire Burns is a story of revenge, redemption, and friendship, set in a world of muskets and airships, quiet colonial towns and sprawling steampunk cities, rolling green pastures and dragon-infested mountains.

Most of my copy was either already written following the stuff from website day, or the book description that I just rewrote. Gonna skip this one for now.
