(HIRED) Editor and cover designer--thanks all!

UPDATE! I found the perfect one-two punch—an editor who lived thru the Jesus Rev and a cover designer who “GETS” it and shoved a few projects to tackle mine. Her 18-year-old daughter walked past her as she worked on mine and said “Ooooh, great cover!”

Thanks, everyone, for your kind recommendations and helpfulness!

Editor Requirements:

Project: This 90k first-person romance is set in the 1970’s during the Jesus Revolution. Manuscript is in pre-proofed/cleaned up state (I was a proofer/editor in another life) but I want a 2nd set of trained eyes for a final copy edit (with possible formatting help for indie publishing upload). Editing would be in WORD with markups, not Google Docs. Not looking for a developmental edit. Editor should be flexible and genuinely creative with a very lively wit/sense of humor.

Ask: I’d like to “audition” a few editors to check for style matching (mine is not genre/trope-style novel…it’s decidedly offbeat with a quirky voice).

Budget: For the “audition”, I’d pay $50 for a 1-2-chapter edit to see if our styles align. Total budget: under $1K (I’m on social security)

Timeframe: ASAP, since launch is (prayerfully) September 2024

Cover designer requirements:

Project: Romance is set in the 1970s Jesus revolution era, on a college campus. Note, 70’s doesn’t mean the psychedelic/hippie world. I have 2 basic design concepts in mind: one photographic, one illustrative. (I’ve worked with designers for 25+ years, so I speak designer.)

Timeframe: ASAP, since I want to use cover in various pre-launch materials.

NOTE: I’m asking for ZERO AI use for the cover for ethical and personal reasons. Designer should not feel restricted to typical “heroine with great hair” or “Rom-Com” style illustration.
