Seeking a VA

I'm looking for a VA/publicist/marketer with experience specific to promoting literary fiction rather than commercial or genre fiction—someone who knows the library and literary world (journals, curated lists, targeted bloggers and reviewers, literary awards) as well as the audiobook world (professional reviews and awards). Thank you for any responses or recommendations.

More specifically, if possible (AI helped!):

An experienced solo freelance publicist or publicity VA to assist with targeted visibility efforts for an award-winning, cross-genre novel. This is a short-term, defined-scope engagement, not a long-term marketing contract.

The book is character-driven, retro (1970s), small-town fiction with light faith elements—written to resonate with both Christian and secular readers. The focus is on credibility-building, not mass exposure or social media campaigns.

Scope of Work (Primary Tasks)

  • Targeted outreach to appropriate reviewers, bloggers, and curated book lists

  • Familiarity with trade and semi-trade outlets (e.g., Booklist, Library Journal, Kirkus, respected review blogs)

  • Outreach to librarians, indie bookstores, or library-facing platforms

  • Understanding of how literary fiction gains library traction

Ideal Background:

  • Prior experience in book publicity, publishing support, or library services

  • Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight

  • Strong discernment about fit (quality over quantity)

  • Experience with indie press or literary fiction strongly preferred

  • Former publishing assistant, librarian, or literary publicist a plus
