I teach online Craft Classes for Teens & Tweens
Registration is opening soon for St. Athanasius Academy! These are year-long classes that meet once a week.
I’ve been teaching for 20+ years, but this will be my 4th year teaching at this Orthodox online school. Most of my students are homeschooled, but I have a couple in my Friday afternoon class that come home from their brick-and-mortar school to join me online.
How do I teach? We read good books, aloud, in class!
1. I point out small techniques the authors use
I ask questions about how or why the technique works
I assign a 100-300 word sketch for students to practice the technique
They read each other’s scenes and provide encouraging feedback (I train them on very strict guidelines the first few weeks, to keep the environment encouraging).
I point out their best sentences & phrases and show them on the highlight reel at the beginning of the next class. That serves as both a reward for doing the work and review for the previous lesson.
Classes = $352 ($75 deposit required)
Day of the Week = Friday
Times = Teens 11am & 4pm est — TWeens 12noon est
Parent Testimonials:
“In the beginning, she was a bit upset about this class since she thought she was a bad writer. I told her to just give it a try and then let me know. It is now one of the two favorite classes for her and I'm so glad that she had switched her fear to confidence.” G.B.
“Elisabeth loves your class and she is looking forward to her Fridays as her weekly treat… Thanks for being an inspiration and a role model for her!” J.B.
Student Testimonial:
“This class is the best thing that’s happened to me in a while. I've improved 200% already.” M.W.
