Jayna's week 2 report + week 3 goals

Last week my goal was 1.2K words per day. I had three successful days and three unsuccessful ones, finishing week 2 with 4,758 words for the week.

I’m noticing a pattern in my writing. I can really get the words out for two or three days, and then I have to stop and either research or brainstorm for a couple of days before I can crank out the words again. I also do best if I take 30 minutes or so in the morning to think things through and start my scene, then write the rest of the day’s words in the evening after the scene has “percolated” all day.

I don’t set writing goals for Sundays, but this week I had an inspiration for a very short Christmas story for my subscribers that fits into the events of my last novel. I drafted a very rough initial version on Sunday and am counting those words toward my monthly goal, even though they weren’t on my official WIP. This is about staying in the writing habit.

For this week I’m sticking with my goal of 1.2K words per day. Not sure it will happen, especially because I’m in a research-heavy section of the story right now. I’ve already missed Monday. But it’s something to shoot for.
