Let's Write a Novel this Month!
This is a one-month writing sprint built for authors who still haven’t finished the draft or who want to exploit a focused window to push far ahead. This isn’t about niceties. It’s about action.
Why this exists
Traditional writing routines often drag. When deadlines lack true accountability, projects stagnate. The widely known NaNoWriMo model (50,000 words in November) spawned momentum, but as one recent analysis noted, the structure around it is changing.
But why limit writing sprints to November?
How it works
You commit to writing through the month—aiming at or toward a 50,000-word draft or whatever meaningful internal target you set.
You use this space on AuthorMedia.social as your accountability hub. Post word-counts, wins, struggles, link arms with fellow authors.
You engage with writing sprints, peer momentum, and mini-check-ins.
No fantasies. No “I should write when I feel inspired.” This is daily output, daily momentum.
Who should join
Authors at any stage, but especially:
Writers with a project stalled, half-finished, or barely started.
Series authors who need to re-ignite creative velocity.
If you’re comfortable with slow burn and comfortable being comfortable — this may be less useful for you. But if you’re ready to move, this is for you.
What you’ll get
Peer accountability: participants in this space share results, tactics, energy.
Momentum: daily progress instead of randomness. The cumulative effect matters.
Real progress: whether you hit 50,000 words or just establish a new daily habit, you’ll come out ahead.
How to use this space
At the start of each week, post your goal: word-count target, scene outline, step.
At day’s end, drop your actual: “I wrote X words. What helped/fought me.”
Engage: respond to others, celebrate wins, ask questions.
At month’s close: reflect and set next step (edit, publish, series launch, whatever).
