$20 a day (and a poll)

I am in a FB group for authors advertising on Amazon. Someone shared on there a very intricate spreadsheet for about 20 books. How many clicks they got for their ads, how successful the KU reads were, read through rate. Summary: She makes $68 per day and spends $48 on ads, making a profit of $20 per day.

for 20 books.

It reminds me of a post Morgan Busse shared lately on FB about this not being about money, but a “ministry.”

I just can’t see that as a viable thing. Yes, I do consider I’m not “in it for the money,” because my author career is fueling the Turkish Christian fiction industry. But to do this, there needs to be profit.

Is the 20/80 a general principle, like Murphy’s Law is? 20% of the people make it, 20% of the people profit, 20% of the people _____ (fill in the blank for whatever goal you have, knowing you will likely not hit that group).

I would like to know if anyone in this community makes more than $20/day in their writing. Fill out the poll if you are candid enough. (Post in the comments how many books you have out)
