AI crawling and Website stats

As I noted a month ago, my website has been crawled by bots for the last 5 weeks.

People have told me this is a good thing.

It’s finally “slowed” enough that my stats are only 4xs the norm.

Can someone explain to me why all of this is good? I probably will have to update my Jetpack stat counter because the number of apparent “hits”—predominantly from an AI crawler in North Bergen, NJ —has increased dramatically.

I have received one request related to my research (I’m something of an authority on Oswald Chambers and My Utmost for His Highest), but that’s the only thing that seems to have benefited.

On another note, regarding the above, this will hugely inflate my stats on the proposal I’m writing for my agent.

What are people doing about that?

To me, it doesn’t seem honest to imply 4x as many people are looking at my site when it appears to mostly be AI bots.
