Anyone Have Success with GiveSendGo?
I am enrolled in the 5YP and hope to attend the Book Launch course in April but I just don’t have funds in place. I figured I would take a stab at raising money, but didn’t feel Kickstarter was right for me. Has anyone had luck with GiveSendGo for raising funds for your book development? I am probably doing this all wrong, but I just felt prompted to put something out there. Any tips on getting traction? Do I keep HOUNDING (pardon the pun, since my novel is about a bloodhound that solves a murder!) my network for donations?
One interesting aspect is that my network is primarily “pet lovers” and likely not all that many Christians, yet my GiveSendGo talks about the ministry (Bloodhound Love Club for teen girls) that God is leading me to launch in addition to the novel. I am not sure how to reach more Christians via my networks (Facebook and X). Any suggestions on where else I should post? Here’s what I put on my Facebook pages:
“Today, I am releasing a snippet of text from my YA historical romance / mystery novel with a request for financial support. I need to raise $4,800.00 through my GOFUNDME campaign by April 15th for my planned attempts to FINALLY sell this novel at an upcoming writer's conference!
Bloodhound Love is based in 1977 and includes great 70’s language (“far out,” “right on,” “foxy”) and 70’s music (Barry White and Marvin Gaye, but I promise NO DISCO!) and two highly recognizable national (USA) crimes from that era woven into my fictional murder / story. This story is especially FUN and will have a major twist at the end that I GUARANTEE no one will see coming! Of course, the story includes all kinds of fascinating details of bloodhounds, scent evidence, and pet detective work all wrapped in a teen romance between a 17-year-old chick who falls for a foxy 19-year-old dude. Seriously, there’s enough teen “love” and hormones (and humor) soaked into this story to revive even your grandma’s love life!
YOU CAN READ THE SNIPPET FROM THE NOVEL on my GiveSendGo page (click below, then look in the UPDATE area under February 28, 2024): THANK YOU for your support!”
