Best platform-building tools?

Hey, everyone, I know I need to invest in a platform-building program of some sort. I was sure I needed Story Origin after attending the Novel Marketing Conference in January, and I planned to get started on this as soon as I had time to invest in it. (It has taken me this long to get around to it because I learned so much at the conference that I juat had to work on several other things first. The conference was amazing!)

However, once I looked closely at the Story Origin website, I feel a bit like I’m in the wrong place. I checked out the list of available newsletter swaps, review swaps, and give-aways, and in a very long list of titles and authors, very few were Christian, and the few that were Christian were not my genre. I write Christian children’s books while the very few (and I mean FEW) Christian books I found listed were Bible studies or “how-to” books about the Christian life. I understand that you can lead up a group yourself, but if the authors who choose this service are not in your genre, you’re going to be all alone in your group. Does anyone have any insight into this? Perhaps there’s something in Story Origin that I’m missing, or maybe I should look into another service that does the same thing but appeals to a different group of authors. Any insight on this? Thanks in advance.
