Blog post length

I listened to Michael Hyatt’s book Ptlatform. He recommended blog posts of about 500 words. I can’t help wonder if I’m doing a different kind of blog or doing something wrong. I am writing on biblical topics. I just wrote a 1635-word post on how to love God with one’s mind, including practical suggestions. There are few blogs I see that are that long. Am I hurting myself by writing posts that long? Or, is this going to work for the right audience? I’m hoping for a Christian audience that wants substantive content, not platitudes or lighthearted inspiration. I don’t read most devotional works because they don’t provide what I want. I’m trying to offer more of what I want to read, and I’m hoping I can find the readers who want that too. I’m not trying to write only for myself. I believe the audience that I want to serve is out there. I’ve read enough InterVarsity Press books to know that this audience is out there, but haven’t figured out how to find them. Anyway, I wonder if I should just delete my post and try to find a much smaller topic. Any suggestions? Thanks.
