Growing an Email List

I’ve been reading free books through BookFunnel promotions, so I understand how authors can find new readers to join their email lists through various BookFunnel promotions.

Are there any other particularly effective ways to build an audience?

I do not have a website yet (I have tried to get into the free website course so I can get a better feel of good author websites, and the course has not let me in), and so I cannot do website lead magnets.

I am currently working on a YA novel.
