I'm thinking about a website
Hello, everyone! Hope you’re all having a blessed day.
I’ll get straight into it: I’m thinking about getting my website put together now. I still haven’t bought a web address or server. I’m thinking about buying an address in the next few days, just so I can stick a link in an ad in my school’s yearbook.
I already know what I would want to do with a website. I would have:
A home page with some basic stuff, like my most recently-released book.
A page with all of my published books.
A page to act as a warehouse for everything I put on my email list. (Since I’m a fiction author, here’s what I’d do: every email I send out would have a snippet of a short story, maybe around 1-2k words for each email I send out. I’d need a website as a place to store all the ones I’ve already published, and the page where I store them would have to be inaccessible to anyone who isn’t signed up for the email list.)
An author bio, which is kind of essential.
At this point, I’ve made a few accomplishments as an author. I’ve finished a full manuscript for a novel-length project (although I don’t like how shallow the worldbuilding feels), and I’ve managed to get a short story published in a tiny little indie anthology (which has probably made me ten bucks in a year, at most). I’m working on multiple novel-length projects right now, although none have gotten very far and I’m still working on perfecting my craft. (It seems that the shorter my stories are, the higher the quality is.)
What do all of you think? Should I buy a web address now, or just focus on my WIPs? Thank you so much, and God bless!
