Income source for podcasters

I’m not a podcaster, but I’ve been on quite a few lately (thanks podcastguests.com) and I came across a novel way of making money. I did an interview on a well-established podcast and at the end, the host told me she’s backed up at least six months. But she had a “jump the queue” option if I was interested. For $39 I could have my podcast up within a month. A higher fee if I was timing it with a promotion of my own and wanted it up this week.

It might be a touch scammy. I have no idea if she really had that many in the can. But my experience is that it can be months between recording an interview and seeing it released. Since I have a book recently out, it was worth it to me to pop for the month.
