Is everywhere going to take us nowhere?
I’ve been an author since 2021 and this is my conclusion when it comes to audience building: trying to promote my content everywhere leads me nowhere.
In three years, I’ve tried podcasting, social media, newsletters, blog, Substack, and many more. I’ve seen fruit, but it’s been slow-going. And not in every avenue. (Certainly not in traditional social media!)
It’s ok, though. Jesus has been with me and He’s been teaching me to focus. I don’t need to be everywhere. I don’t need to dance on tiktok, host a podcast, or follow the next big trend. I need His vision. His direction. His heart for those I’m writing to.
I love this quote by James Clear, author of Atomic Habits.
"Limiting your options now will expand your opportunities in the long run because you can remain focused enough to master something.
Keeping your options open now will reduce your opportunities in the long run because you divide your attention and end up doing an average job on seven different things." James Clear
