Is substack "safe" anymore?

I’m seriously considering launching a substack ( I already have a website, blog, and newsletter) as a way to grow my platform. I know some very successful authors are on substack. However, after hearing an Author Update about an information leak i’m hesitant. Can substack still be trusted or will I be setting up my subscribers (and myself) to be hacked and bombarded with Nigerian scam emails???
