Non-short story lead magnet for newsletter swaps

This year I’m really focusing on growing my email list.

(For context I write western contemporary fiction)

Right now my lead magnets are the first chapter of my first book and I’ve been experimenting with a 7 day prayer guide that goes along with themes of my second book as well.

I’m wanting to experiment with one on one newsletter lead magnet swaps (setting these up privately with author friends and on Story Origin), but I’m wondering if not having a full piece of fiction with its own cover will be a hindrance.

Is it possible to do a newsletter lead magnet swap with a first chapter lead magnet or something like a quiz? Has anyone tried this?
