Pitching Podcasts to Promote Kickstarter

Hi all, I would really like to get on some podcasts to promote my Kickstarter, but I need the Kickstarter to cover my editing costs, so I don’t have a polished product for the podcast host to read. Is it likely podcast hosts would have you on “on spec” or maybe with a proposal/outline/sample chapter to see ahead of time? (The “conversation” I’m pitching isn’t just “hey I’m writing a book” but rather a particular topic related to both my book and the podcast.) Is this something that’s likely to fly, or should I just plan on pitching podcasts after my Kickstarter (hopefully) funds and I have a finished book to send podcasters should they ask?
