Here is the back cover copy for Secrets to the Wind, a historical romance:
Martha’s Vineyard, 1863: Annie Osborn has helped an enslaved man on the Underground Railroad, and now she has to keep his secret or risk his safety and hers. The cost of silence grows more unbearable every day.
Annie’s heart belongs to Daniel Anthony, the heroic colonel from Kansas who saved dozens of people from a fire before her eyes. His letters openly reveal his admiration for her bravery, too. Nevertheless, her father the captain thwarts their romance at every turn.
Though Daniel longs to help her, he is beset by problems of his own in Bleeding Kansas. He’s briefly jailed for criticizing a general who let Quantrill’s Raiders escape after a murderous rampage. Not only that, he never gets a chance to explain his part in killing a civilian. He can’t rest, fearing that the captain will discover these events and hold them against him.
Just when Annie decodes a letter that will safeguard her secret, Daniel arrives on Martha’s Vineyard to clear the slate with her and her father. That’s when Annie discloses one more secret that could separate them forever.
