Update on Losing Half my Subscribers

Original post:

My conclusion after the offboarding and deleting of my “cold subscribers” is that moving to Kit from MailerLite (December 2024) brought me nothing but headache and frustration.

  1. A lot of my regularly opening subscribers never received the emails after I moved

  2. There is no way to track or sort your subscribers by ENGAGEMENT OR DELIVERABILITY with Kit (without doing the Creator PRO plan, which costs even more).

  3. I did not have a way to sort my own “cold” from their flat-rate “cold subscriber” category.

  4. My bad: I shouldn’t have directly offboarded people but kept them in a pocket for a while to do some more tests—like using a different from email address. Because after I ‘unsubscribe’ even accidentally, I cannot add them again. But I did not want to pay for them anymore

RESULTS:

I had 850 regular openers before the purge

I had 700 regular openers AFTER the purge.

The help desk at Kit couldn’t explain, and said “just be glad your open rate went up”. Of course it went up—I deleted the non-openers.

It took me a LOT of time and calculations to find that thankfully I did not DELETE the subscribers who were no longer receiving /delivering. (see TAKE AWAY below)

Anyhow. Because I have no control over sorting and testing and evaluating my subscribers—I find the transfer from MailerLite was a very very very bad decision. Sorting/engagement/etc is part of the regular features of MailerLite. It took me a year to catch up, to get (almost) all my automations going.

And by trusting Kit, I lost 200 openers. That’s not good.

I don’t know why, they can’t explain why.

TAKE AWAY👉 It’s almost as if a certain percentage of your list on each mailing are automatically sent to spam. Even if they were opening your emails before.
