Would like feedback on my book cover

This is the cover of my debut novel, which was released last October. Currently I’m almost done with final edits to my second book in the series. Lies and Deception was launched in haste for many reasons without doing things right (no advance reader input, etc). I’ve decided to postpone launching the second novel until I’m more sure about the first one. When I do launch Book 2, I plan a re-launch of Book 1 too.

Sales are pretty nonexistent (probably for a lot of reasons) and I’m wondering if it could be partly due to the cover. I hired a very talented artist friend to paint the watercolor for the cover and I’ve been happy with it but I don’t think it’s working well. So before I have her do the cover for Book 2, which would be similar to this, I really need feedback from people who know about selling books.

If you read the description of the book on the back cover you will see what the story is about. The genre is a mix that I’ve never been able to pinpoint: clean but dark fantasy, Christian allegory, fairy tale, historical fiction, literary fiction, spiritual warfare, horror, etc. Does this cover reflect any of that successfully? Does it make you want to see what the book is about?

I mostly wanted a picture of a rose in fire, which is the title of the series, and that is what we ended up with. The wallpaper background reflects the old-fashioned setting of the books. I looked at a lot of fantasy cover ideas but none of them seemed to reflect what I’m doing in this story. I wanted the cover to stand out as unique because I think the story is unique.

Comments? Critiques? Suggestions? Please be very kind! Thank you!
