Advice on printing with KDP and IngramSpark?

I just got the print ready files of my picture book, How to Pet a Porcupine, from the illustrator/designer and I need some input on printing, getting samples, etc. I ran a Kickstarter campaign for it in the spring and planned on fulfillment by December.

I'm planning to print softcover with KDP and hardcover with IngramSpark. Any advice on the process of getting sample/proof copies and then how to order the copies to send to KS backers?

Is it necessary to order the proof copy with lines across the cover, or can I order an author copy without that?

Do I have to “officially” publish my book on Amazon before I send out copies to my backers?

On KDP, can I send author copies directly to backers?

On IS, can I send books directly to backers?

If you have advice on anything else related to ordering sample copies and using KDP and IngramSpark for fulfilling a KS campaign, I've love to hear it!
