Any experience with sales tax for authors?

I thought federal taxes were confusing…try state sales tax. I keep a very small inventory of books at my house and occasionally sell a copy to a friend or from my website. Now that I’ve created an LLC, I’m looking into sales tax requirements because I want to make sure everything is legal. I know it varies state to state, but I’m wondering if anyone has experience with state sales tax/how important it is.

(From what I’ve researched so far, it looks like once I register to pay sales tax here in Indiana, I have to submit a form every month even if I don’t make any sales…which seems like a lot of work to do when I only sell a book once or twice a year, and then maybe on Black Friday).
