How do y'all decide on industry standards for professional-looking covers?

My first book cover was a gift from a dear artist friend. She painted a picture and we made a digital PDF. Then my son worked on the lettering. I used Canva to put it all together. What do you all think? Is it too homemade, or is the original artwork refreshing?

I’m not a big fan of the plasticky, cartoon look of AI sherbet-colored graphics these days. But I do want a cover that draws young readers into the discipleship-based memoir.
