How do you handle translations of your books?

For a self-published author, what does the normal process look like?

Here’s the specific situation:

The author of a book I ghosted was contacted about translating his book into German and Spanish. The woman simply said the book is needed and she had the ability to do the translations, not asking for anything. It’s a nonfiction personal development book.

Is there anything we should be wary of? or do you have advice on how to team up with people to do this?
