In search of an easy-going, non-contractual hybrid publisher

I only joined this group after reading Thomas’ great article “Hybrid Publishing” and realized that this is probably the best way to get my wife and my questions answered truthfully. I hope this post isn’t redundant.

My wife is the unpublished author (except for her Doctorate Thesis), I’m only the supportive husband trying to give her a hybrid/supporting publisher “gift card” as a Christmas gift. She’s been talking about writing some Self-help and Poetry books for 20 years.

Unless she gets bit by the Author bug I don’t see her making a career out of writing, but she definitely wants to write her thoughts into existence. I understand from reading multiple websites that we don’t want to go Traditional, and we don’t want to exert the amount of time, energy, mistakes, and money by going fully independent, so some sort of hybrid is our best choice.

The following statement probably exposes the fullness of my naivety of this industry, but I’m hoping that this community has come across a few hybrid publishing services that truly exists for the author with some or all of the following criteria:

• Gentle to a novice author • Willing to walk through the whole process as many times as necessary • No deadlines • No contracts • editing, proofreading, advice, coaching, cover, publishing services
