Independent Bookstores

I know I have heard this answer but can’t locate where, so. . .

I have 2 previous books that are published on Amazon and would like to get them into some small bookstores (church bookstores, primarily). I understand Ingram is a distribution option, but not sure if it’s the best way to address this small distribution. Is there a quick answer or link to find the answer someone could throw out?
