KDP Author Central global problems?

I recently launched my first novel, and it is now live on Amazon (both print and ebook). In the run up to the launch, I have been quite active on my KDP account, not only insuring that my book is properly set up, but also adding much information for potential buyers by effectively adding stuff through my Amazon Author Central account. This is things like: “from the author,” editorial reviews, etc. This has worked well, and I have used it a bunch.

HOWEVER, about three or so weeks ago, I went in to add an additional editorial review, and the book’s “EDIT” button was grayed out. And near the top of the page was the cautionary statement: “Author Central is currently under maintenance. Functionality may be limited. We apologize for any inconvenience.” Clicking on the grayed-out edit button did nothing.

So I simply thought I’d try the next day, and surely, they would be done with their “maintenance.” But nope, no such luck. So I forgot about it for a couple of days and after remembering I wanted to add the review, I tried again. Same problem.

So I emailed Amazon about the issue and got the reply: “We’re sorry for the problem, but if you send us the editorial review, we can add it for you.” But I didn’t want to get into the matter of having someone else do what I really needed to do.

I waited a week, and the same thing. Same email response. Today, I called Amazon, and amazingly, they called me right back, within a minute or so. I discussed the issue with him, and he confirmed that this really is a systemic problem where Author Central really is totally down, as far as editing, and that it’s not just me, but a global problem. He said all authors have the same problem, with no estimate in sight of when their “maintenance” will be finished.

Do any of you other authors who use KDP’s Author Central have the same problem as I do—that you can’t edit info for your books (like editorial reviews, and such)?

It’s amazing to me that Amazon, with all their resources hasn’t been able to fix their totally broken Author Central platform in three weeks!
