Pseudonyms

Hi guys,

This question will probably get answered in the BLBP course next month. But I’d sure like to hear what you think, as I’m launching out in a new genre. I have one self-published book in a different one, and knew nothing about marketing when it came out.

I understand and agree with the varied reasons for having a writing name as a fiction author. It really appeals to me. Maybe this goes back to wanting to be a spy when I grew up, LOL. So many secrets, so little time!

My question is this: if you’re trying to become known, especially when you start sharing your book news within your social circle, won’t a lot of people then know the identity behind your writing name? And doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of using one?

I expect to learn how to navigate this issue, and what’s a realistic expectation for how much your real name gets connected to your work.

Please weigh in with your practical advice and experience. I need my perspective broadened.
