What month to publish

I know there are lots of thoughts on this, ranging from ‘publish once your book is ready’ to ‘publish in the popular times for your genre.’

I’m currently using the tortoise release method to plan out my writing and want to remain as consistent as possible with release dates, meaning I want to make sure I’m publishing in a decent month.

I know August is normally not recommended because it’s slow. November and December are holidays. According to my research, January/February and then late spring/early summer are good times for novels.

My genre is speculative fiction (fantasy and dystopian) and I’ve currently settled on the beginning of July as a release date. Because it fits in the time frame and also because the tasks for each month line up well with the ebb and flow of life events.

I just wanted to pop in here before confirming the deadline with myself to see if anyone had thoughts, insight, or some obvious reason I’m missing to not make July my ‘personal publishing month.’
