What to ask a potential narrator?
Hey all,
I’ve been researching audiobook narrators (have already decided I don’t want to go the AI route and don’t want to do it myself) and have found a potentially great fit through another author with a similar market. I’m to the point now where the next logical step is contacting the narrator. Can anyone give me tips on what to say/ask?
I already know his recording quality and narrating credentials, so I’m not worried about that. I do know that I want to pay per finished hour instead of attempting any kind of royalty share. It’s also important to me that my narrator share my faith. I’m just not entirely sure how to present my project and ask the right questions about budget, interest, etc. in a professional way—I don’t want to say anything blatantly idiotic and scare him off without knowing it! If anyone has an email script, that would be even more helpful.
This is really intimidating for an indie author who has basically done everything else herself and is very unaccustomed to hiring another person for such a major part of a project. :)
