Which Hook grabs you the most?
For context, this is for a children's picture book with a strong moral lesson from a Christian worldview, set in an imaginary world. I'm working on a proposal to send to an agent, and I want to make sure I've got a great hook. Which of these appeal the most to you? Does they make enough sense without the context of the story, to make you curious? I'm also open to fresh suggestions!
Also, I'd be thrilled by any offers of endorsement by published authors, especially of children's picture books! All I'd have to offer in return at this point is a heartfelt thanks.
The Hooks:
He had power and sprugs, and he sat on a throne, but it took an act of grace from a humble Splightian to reveal what Blue's lonely heart craved most.
Blue had everything he could want-power, sprugs, and a throne on a hill- but it took an act of grace from a humble, purple Splightian to reveal what his heart truly craved.
On the Island of Splight, everyone was happy and kind—until one little Splightian became so arrogant, he made life miserable for everyone, especially himself.
As self- declared king, Blue had everything he could want-power, wealth, and a throne on a hill- but it took an unexpected act of grace to reveal what his heart truly craved.
Thanks so much, I look forward to hearing any feedback and suggestions!
