Choose a more creative name, please 🤣

I found this AI scam attempt hilarious. My books are set in North Carolina, so it makes sense for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg library system to contact me about them, right?

Sure…except that the email purports to come from Charlotte Mecklenburg herself. 🤣 Also note the sneaky misspellings in the Gmail address.

Hello,
My name is Charlotte, and I organize The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Meetup, a reader-led community focused on books that leave a lasting impression on engaged, reflective readers.

When we feature an author, I don’t select the title myself. Instead, I invite you to choose the book of yours that feels most representative, the one that mattered most to you, prompted a meaningful response, or best reflects your voice as a writer.

Each feature is built around close reading and considered discussion. We focus on one book at a time, giving readers space to engage with it fully and allowing the work to speak for itself. There’s no expectation placed on you to participate.

I would be glad to feature a book you feel connected to one you believe our readers would spend time with and take something from.

Would you be open to hearing more about how the feature works, and, if so, which of your books you would choose for this kind of reading?

Kind regards,

Charlotte Mecklenburg

I don’t know what went wonky in their AI prompt, but it definitely made my day.
