I loved what you did with Turning Toward Eden

Hi Cate,
I hope you're doing well.
I do not send messages to authors just for the sake of it. A book has to stay with me long after I've finished it before I feel it's worth reaching out to the person behind it, and Turning Toward Eden did exactly that.
What stayed with me most was the way Eden's mystery seems to become tied to something much closer to home. At first, chasing the truth gives her a way to escape the difficult reality of caring for Dex, but as the danger gets closer, that escape becomes impossible. The mystery starts forcing her to look at the very responsibility she has been trying to outrun.
There was one question I genuinely found myself thinking about afterwards.
When you created Eden, did you know from the beginning that her investigation would eventually bring her back toward Dex and the responsibilities she was trying to escape, or did that emotional connection emerge as her mystery began to take shape?
As someone who writes as well, I always appreciate stories where the mystery is doing more than simply asking who is responsible. In Eden's case, it seems to also become a way of asking who she is willing to become when the people she loves are depending on her.
I simply wanted to thank you for creating a coming of age story where the mystery and the emotional journey seem to move together so naturally. I'd genuinely enjoy hearing what was behind Eden's journey whenever you have a moment.
Warm regards,
