Is This UX Book Club Email A Scam?
Good Morning Everyone,
I hope ya’ll are staying warm. We are quite literally blocked in with over a foot of snow turned ice.
I receive several emails each week that sound real, but feel too good to be true. I don’t want to miss an “opportunity” but also not come off as unprofessional if I miss/block a real persons email. I thought I was good at detecting scams, as I am Gen z, but I fear my age is no longer enough with robots almost perfectly mimicking people.
So I would really appreciate other eyes on this and thoughts you all might have. Thanks a bunch!
(I don’t know whether to give the person’s name or not. Let me know if that will help)
I’m reaching out on behalf of UX Book Club, a reader-led community that values books which nurture empathy, connection, and meaningful shared moments across generations.
Your book, Always There, Rocking Chair, stood out during our recent curation for its tenderness and emotional warmth. The story’s sense of comfort, presence, and continuity feels especially powerful for young readers and the adults who share stories with them. It’s the kind of book that invites quiet reflection and heartfelt conversation.
We’d love to explore the possibility of featuring your book with our community. A feature may include:
• Goodreads exposure – Dedicated discussion threads and verified reader reviews from families, educators, and children’s literature readers.
• Extended visibility – Inclusion in relevant Goodreads Listopia lists and continued recommendations within our reading network.
• Community amplification – Parents, caregivers, teachers, and book bloggers often highlight featured children’s books organically across platforms.
• Author connection (optional) – A gentle online conversation or read-along where you could share the inspiration behind the story or its message of comfort and care.
• Editorial spotlight – A professionally written, newspaper-style feature capturing reader reflections and shared moments. This includes a polished digital and print-ready layout, along with a personalized QR code linking directly to your book or website. The feature is yours to use for school visits, library events, promotions, or long-term visibility.
If this feels aligned, I’d be happy to share a sample editorial spotlight and walk you through how the process works. There’s no obligation — just an opportunity to see how Always There, Rocking Chair might gently connect with readers.
Warm regards,
