Just a reminder not to panic....
For some reason, the “your hosting is about to stop working” attempted scams are some of the scariest for me… probably because I have my account set to auto-pay, so if something actually didn’t go through, I probably wouldn’t know till I got an email.
Because of that, I just wanted to share this email as a reminder not to panic… notice the domain name of the sender’s email isn’t Bluehost, and the Bluehost logo is missing from the email (although it’s not too hard to screenshot a logo, so the logo being present doesn’t make something legit).
The email domain name is indeed associated with a real website, which appears to have nothing to do with hosting, and I logged into Bluehost (NOT by clicking on the button in the email, but by going directly to their website in my browser) to confirm that my account is up to date.
Just wanted to show this in case something similar is going around, and overall as a reminder not to panic, but to take a deep breath, check for a few basic things like the sender’s email, and share a screenshot here if you’re still unsure. (48 hours sounds like so little time… but it’s more than enough to get input from others!)
