Writers of USA: Sloppy, sloppy scammer -- Fire your AI!

I usually just block all the scam emails offering to promote my books, or allegedly invite me to be featured at their next book club meeting. I’ve started saving the email to put together a tally of the types of scams and compare the wording, and go on with my day. No waste of energy thinking about it again.

THIS is something I need to gripe about.

Someone named Idris Kent, supposedly representing Writers of USA, had this to say about my “catalog”:

“Your ability to champion the misunderstood ‘geek-for-God’ crowd reminds me of the exact cultural gap Michelle Levigne tackles in To Eternity (and beyond). Her defense of speculative fiction as soul-nourishing, not soul-threatening, mirrors your own approach to storytelling.”

Umm, my catalog reminds him of my OWN book?

He doesn’t really look at the email addresses of the authors he’s trying to scam into trusting him with promotion, does he?

sigh

Anybody else heard from this guy? I am not going to encourage correspondence by writing back and telling him what a stupid, revealing gaff he made. Probably he isn’t even a “he” but an “it.” The robots are on the attack again!
