Suspicious invite to be featured at Irish arts festival
This one was kind of fun, because who doesn’t want to be invited to Ireland?!
With some research and asking Grok to look into the email, it seems like it may be legit. The festival itself is, anyway. At best though, feels like a “spray and pray” effort on the part of the director of this festival. With no reference to my books at all, seems like a form email being sent out far and wide (all the way to me in nowhere New Mexico).
Has anyone else gotten an invite from Mr. Connelly?

Dear maddie,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Stephen Connelly, and I am Festival Director of June Fest, an annual arts and cultural festival held in Newbridge, Ireland.
As part of the festival, we curate a dedicated literary programme that brings together authors and audiences for a series of engaging events, including live readings, in conversation interviews, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. Our focus is on creating thoughtful, accessible spaces where writers can share their work, discuss their creative process, and connect meaningfully with readers.
We also host our annual short story competition and showcase emerging voices alongside established writers, fostering a dynamic and inclusive literary community.
I would be delighted to invite you to participate in this year’s programme. We would be happy to shape an event around your work , whether that be a solo reading, a moderated discussion, or a workshop, depending on your preference.
June Fest continues to grow each year, attracting a diverse and engaged audience, and we are committed to delivering a high quality experience for both participants and attendees.
If this is of interest, I would be glad to discuss potential formats, scheduling, and arrangements at your convenience.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope we might have the opportunity to welcome you to June Fest.
