The Gmail Check May Not Work Anymore
I was listening to The Creative Penn with Joanna Penn (October 20th episode) and she mentioned that she had started getting scam emails from what looked like legitimate domains ([name of real agent]@[name].com).
It seems like some scammers have wised up and stopped using Gmail, BUT there are still steps that you can take to verify if an email is real:
Check the spelling of the name. The real agent may be called Tarquin Eddington, but the domain is Tarquin Edington (one d).
Ask your preferred ai when the domain was registered and who it was registered to. If it's a very new domain, then it's likely to be a scam.
And then, of course, there are all the normal signs you can watch out for in the body of the email.
Stay safe!
